RUPEE Evolution and the RUP to RUPEE Conversion
I invested in the RUP project as I thought it had a great potential to bring a method for exchanging currency outside of the traditional banking system to India. A large number of the people in India are unbanked (do not have traditional bank accounts). The estimate is 190 million adults in India do not have access to the banking system. The RUP project seemed to have a lot of momentum but the original team decided to sell all of their coins and basically abandon the project. The new RUPEE Evolution project now has some new hope for resurrection with the RUPEE coin. A voluntary swap can be made to the RUPEE coin from the RUP coin. Of course I’m not sure why anyone would want to stick with the RUP coin after the original team abandoned the project and there is basically no market for the existing supply of RUP coins. The new project leader is dedicated to making RUPEE successful and he has successfully launched the project with a new vision and the swap from the RUP coin has been initiated. The project is very transparent with all aspects of the coin being made public which is very refreshing considering the multiple problems associated with the original RUP project and the lake of transparency.
